Over the last few years, work-from-home trends have encouraged many offices to rethink their practices. There have been a few notable changes in the way that many companies approach buying office furniture. Today we’d like to talk about those trends and what they might mean for the future of workplace culture.
First things first, it has to be noted that for those companies who haven’t gone fully remote, incentivising employees to want to be in the office has become a real priority. In terms of office furniture, this largely means taking advantage of one of the major benefits offices have over work-from-home… person-to-person interaction.
While working from home does allow for a fair amount of interaction, when you’re in the office you’re surrounded by other people who share the same goals as you. As such, an office space should help encourage people to work together.
This means fewer cubicles and more group-oriented spaces as well as better facilities for conducting meetings.
Another way companies are incentivising their employees to come to the office is by making the space more comfortable. From ergonomic chairs to standing desks, there’s a lot that can be done to build an office space that appeals to employees.
Home Offices
Of course, those people who are working from home still need office furniture too and, in many cases, they’re quite happy to pay the extra for comfort. In recent years there’s been an uptick in demand for premium quality office furniture as employees create customised environments that help to improve their own productivity.
The Value of Variation
Lastly, perhaps the biggest trend of all in 2024 is more of an anti-trend. Instead of opting for tried and true layouts, many offices are choosing to build a workplace culture around the needs of their staff. In practice, this means we’re seeing new approaches, new styles and, most importantly, more room for accommodating the needs of individual employees.
This change is absolutely for the better as it's been encouraging companies to get creative with their approach to office furniture.
An office is more than just a building. It’s a place where people spend their whole day, where they exercise their creativity and strive to achieve their best. The better a space you create, the better the end result will be.
